We begin with a hearty breakfast at Blue River Resort & Hot Springs' Tiki Bar, surrounded by exotic gardens. American style or Costa Rica "Tico" is available.

At 7:30 a.m. we set off on our jungle adventure tour with a 4 km drive to the base of Rincon de la Vieja National Park. Most of the hiking trails will be in the middle of the cool rainforest, through high mountains and thick vegetation.

Along the trail, we'll be on the lookout for animals, like wild pigs (or peccaries), big rodents like pecas and agoutis, spider monkeys, howler monkeys, peccaries, a variety of snakes and insects. If we are lucky, we'll find tracks made by tespescuincles, jaguar & even tapirs.

The biodiversity of this area is amazing. The forest will quickly change from rainforest to a new generation of volcano grounds with special palms. Soon enough we'll arrive to the base of the volcano itself. Here, the altitude is 1100 meters and again, the vegetation changes. This is the place to take a dip in incredibly clear waters consisting of many different pools and the gorgeous "green toucan" waterfalls that wraps around the base of the volcano. Then our final ascent will be to witness the majestic power of nature in the image as this huge volcano and observe the lava flows which have changed the landscape.
